After a post-high-school year in Europe, Long studied painting at the University of Texas at Austin, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she exhibited her paintings across and around Calfornia.
Family commitments drew her back to Texas, and a growing passion for photography led her to set aside her paints and brushes. Now primarily a photographer of infrared landscapes, travel shots, and underwater portraits, with occasional side-gigs as a freelance nonfiction editor, Long travels widely with her trusty Fujifilm cameras, both within and without the US.

Now primarily a photographer of infrared landscapes, travel shots, and underwater portraits, with occasional side-gigs as a freelance nonfiction editor, Long travels widely with her trusty Fujifilm cameras, both within and without the US.
When the 2020 COVID pandemic limited travel, she embarked on a year-long photographic exploration of her Central Texas area, creating a body of 365 daily images in monochrome infrared, which culminated in a 2023 solo show at Austin's Dougherty Art Center and a catalog available on Blurb. com.
Her plans for 2026 include more travel and an increased focus on collecting her various bodies of work into books. Watch this space.
